Two ferries collide near Majuli during morning operations; all passengers safe

Two ferry boats collided on the Brahmaputra River near Majuli Island on Friday morning.

No casualties have been reported as a result of the incident.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place during regular ferry operations.

Although the impact was not severe, it was enough to cause a sudden jolt that led to panic on board.

The mishap occurred at around 8:30 AM, prompting immediate rescue efforts.

Ferry services at Aphalamukh Ghat are a vital mode of transport for residents of the river island of Majuli, especially during peak hours.

A month earlier, a major tragedy was avoided after a ferry with passengers on board lost control and subsequently collided with another ferry at the Guwahati–North Guwahati ferry ghat.
