CM Conrad pushes for Localized Act East Policy approach

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has called for localized approaches to the Act East Policy, arguing that a uniform strategy may not serve the diverse Northeast states effectively.

Inaugurating the 7th Act East Business Show which kicked off here today, Sangma proposed that each state focus on specific zones and international collaborations aligned with its unique geographical and economic strengths. "Meghalaya’s long border with Bangladesh offers great potential for cross-border partnerships, while other states might have stronger ties with Myanmar or other Southeast Asian nations. Tailored strategies will deliver tangible benefits," he explained.

The three days’ business show organised by Indian Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Government of Meghalaya aims at strengthening ties with BBIN and ASEAN nations.
