Frosted Glass Build Plate Revisited

Hi Guys!

A while back I frosted my old glass build plate to see if I could print without glue. You can view the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1zZHgRJm8g

It worked at first, but during a long print there was a massive failure where the print popped off the build plate and for a few hours the item was stuck to the extruder. That was when I had all kinds of problems with my nozzle, nozzle throat, etc. After that I went back to the stock glass build plate and glue.

Monday morning I decided to refrost the build plate to see if by making it rougher and more uniform in texture, would the prints stay stuck.

So in this video I do just that. The build plate came out with a lot more texture and more uniform than before. To test it, I printed a frog for my wife. You can find the model here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:182144 The frog was scaled to 1.6% in Cura.

It printed great! I'm going to try using this plate for several more prints on and off camera to see if it actually works before committing to it.

Thank you very much for watching!!!
