Slow travel days

Sometimes travel with children looks like this… and that’s OK. 🤍
The itinerary said “Nice dinner out,” but after a tough spill at the park and a big cry, my daughter’s heart said “Delivery in bed.” I could feel her energy—the long days, the endless walking, and the pressure to be “on” had finally caught up. She didn’t need another landmark; she needed a safe place to land.
So, we traded the sightseeing for a reset. We were in our pajamas by 3:30 PM, whipping out the coloring books while we waited for takeout. 🥡🖍️
It’s easy to feel like you’re “missing out” when the plans go out the window, but choosing her comfort over my to-do list was the best decision I made all trip. This is her vacation, too, and a quiet moment to regulate is just as important as any monument.
These “slow” days aren’t a failure or a wasted opportunity. They have just as much potential for core memories as the big adventures—because at the end of the day, it’s not about where we went, but how she felt while we were there. ✨
