The Scottsdale Pivot: From “Top Luxury Resort” to Family Paradise 🌵✨

We headed to Scottsdale expecting the ultimate luxury at The Phoenician, but it unfortunately missed the mark for a family trip. Between the small, dated rooms and a broken splash pad, we knew we had to pivot fast to save our pool-centered weekend! 🏃‍♀️💨

The Switch: Since both are Marriott properties, the concierge helped us move our reservation to the JW Marriott Desert Ridge. Not only was it more our speed, but it actually saved us 20k points since it’s technically a lower tier! 💸🙌

The Phoenician: We did stay for High Tea before leaving, which was a total dream for our daughter—10/10 recommend for a special afternoon! ☕️🍰 (We’d definitely go back to this resort for an adults-only spa weekend, which is likely why it ranks so high).

The Move: The JW was a total game-changer. We spent the rest of the trip living it up:
• 💦 Private poolside cabanas & water slides
• 🕹️ An epic arcade (the ticket haul was real!)
• 🎨 Non-stop kids’ club activities
• 🍽️ Incredible dining at all of the restaurants onsite
• 🛌 A gigantic corner balcony suite we never wanted to leave!
Sometimes the “top-rated” spot isn’t the right fit for your specific vibe. We’re already counting down until we can go back! ☀️🌵
