Wood for the Bed Floor (part 23) '47 FORD truck build
I had some old wood that was rescued from a barn tear down. The beams are 22 feet long so I cut them down into 6-7 foot sections so they would be manageable. I ripped them down to 6" which also removed all the old nails that were left in. Then I used the planer to take the pieces down to 3/4". After taking them down to this thickness I lost some of the defined wood grain and character that had been building for the last 50 years. The pieces still have some dark striations and color variation BUT in hindsight I wish I would've planed only one side to get to the 3/4"......live and learn. Thanks for watching!
