초이앤초이갤러리에서는 독일 베를린에서 활동하고 있는 프릿츠 본슈틱(Fritz Bornstück, 1982~)의 전시회 ‘Pink's not red’를 진행중입니다.

전시장에가면 #프릿츠본슈틱 의 회화와 세라믹 조각들을 만날 수 있어요.

작가의 작품은 처음에는 귀엽게 느껴지다가도
이내 오싹해지는 지점이 분명 있습니다.
예를 들면 전시의 포스터 작품이기도한 그림은
버려진 숲에서 너구리가 사람처럼 패스트푸드인 햄버거를 먹고 있는다던가, 반 고흐의 해바라기 꽃병이 버려진 장식장 위 분홍색 꽃병 안에 말라 비틀어진 채 존재한다거나, 숲 속의 부엉이가 버려진 캔과 쓰레기 사이에 앉아 우리를 지켜보고 있는다거나 등등이요.

뉴스에서 볼 법한 환경과 동물의 심각한 문제가 회화로
우회화되어 표현되며 해학성과 위트ㆍ의인화를 동반했지만 그냥 웃어 넘길 수 없다는 사실에 보는 사람들의 마음에 저마다의 질문을 남깁니다.

The Choi&Choi Gallery has opened an exhibition titled "Pink's not red" by Fritz Bornstück, an active artist based in Berlin, Germany.

Visitors to the exhibition can see Bornstück's paintings and ceramic sculptures.

The artworks initially appear charming but soon reveal an unsettling depth. For instance, the exhibition's poster artwork depicts a raccoon eating a hamburger like a human in an abandoned forest, Van Gogh's sunflowers dried and twisted inside a pink vase on a forsaken dresser, or an owl perched among discarded cans and trash in the forest, observing us.

These paintings cleverly reinterpret serious environmental and animal issues seen in the news, incorporating humor and wit, but they raise inescapable questions in the viewer's mind, making it impossible to just laugh off.

🚨 Make sure to look for a ceramic fire extinguisher inscribed with "가나다," created specifically for the Korean exhibition, somewhere in the exhibition hall.
