Ritual Cannibalism among Native people of West Siberia: the unknown bloody wars | Deviant HISTORY
The #Nenets or #Nenet people had been living in North West #Siberia for thousands of years. Later a part of #Ugric nomads pushed by other #tribes left the Great Steppe and went north. They were ancestors of the #Khanty and #Mansi nations. Finally all these three nations faced each other in the same area of West Siberia. Their bloody conflict was primarily caused by the lack of game animals within the Little Ice Age. The cruel war for better hunting and fishing places lasted the entire 17th century.
That was the time of human sacrifice and ritual #cannibalism.
The evidence of those battles and rituals can be still found in the native folklore and in the cold Siberian soil.

DISCLAIMER: the native people in this video do NOT and never have practiced cannibalism. It is part of their history though, and is not meant in any way to suggest that this practice is an ongoing ritual today.
The illustrations of ritual sculptures and utensils were taken from Ismail Gemuev's papers.
