Has Anybody Seen My Skates

The legendary goalie and wonderful person Johnny Bower left this world a couple days ago… When I was a kid I watched him on television many a Saturday night while sitting at my dad’s side. A few years ago, I was performing at a benefit for the Summerside Boys and Girls club, and Johnny was there. I played my song HAS ANYBODY SEEN MY SKATES that night and afterwards, Mr. Bower came over to thank me for putting him in a song. What an honour to meet him and get a picture along with my dad who was at the event. The song talks about playing hockey on a pond as a kid where everyone had either Habs sweaters or Leafs sweaters on and it goes, 'Three Jean Belliveau’s on a power play, that Johhny Bower had no chance’ We had a laugh about that….he said ‘one Jean Belliveau was more than enough, thank you very much!’… I’m sure Belliveau will now be extending a hand to greet him warmly …may he rest in peace.
