Jimmy's visit to PEI - The trip that should have been: Part 2 Singing Sands - Lennie Gallant

As many of you know, I had written and posted online about how Jimmy Buffett wanted so much to visit PEI. Despite his ancestral roots in NFLD and Cape Breton, he had never been to PEI even though it was his idea to write a song about it! I co-wrote the song Portugal or PEI with him, Mac MacAnally and Will Kimbrough, and in the song a number of locales on this beautiful Island came up.

Jimmy and I had made plans for him to come visit the Island at least a half dozen times, but we would have to constantly reschedule, and I now know it was due to his deteriorating health. He couldn’t make it here in body, but I wanted to make that last hoped for trip in October anyway, to places mentioned in the song, Portugal or PEI, in the hope that he’d accompany me, and you, in spirit. This is the second short phone video in this series, and this one is to a beach called Singing Sands in eastern PEI. It was Mac who thought of putting Singing Sands in the song and I took a lot of ribbing from both him and Jimmy for not having thought of this obvious cool idea myself, being a local fella. It was a chilly October day when we did this lil video so there's not many folks around like there would be in summer...so we had the place to ourselves...almost.
