A History of Hyenas
Hyenas are a family of Feliform Carnivorans renowned for their bone crushing jaws and eerie laughing calls. Apart from the four living species, the group has a detailed fossil record that details a transition from civet-like arboreal ancestors to the canine-like predators we know today. Their diversity peaked roughly 15 mya, when many genera roamed across Africa, Eurasia and even North America.
