What is context?

Associate Professor Mark Amsler from the School of Cultures, Languages and Linguistics at the University of Auckland talks about his big question, “What is context?”

Amsler is currently working in the areas of medieval studies, history of linguistics, and cultural theory, moving between earlier periods and the contemporary scene. He is especially interested in pragmatics and written discourses, focusing on interactions in spoken and written texts. Heretical, nonconformist, and alternative communities are of particular interest in his current work, as well as vague language, language mixing, and genre play.

Mark Amsler is an Associate Professor in European Languages and Literature at the University of Auckland. He is an expert in critical theory and semiotics.
