How To Get Into TOP Clinical Psychology PhD Programs

On this episode of Navigating Academia, Dr. Singh discusses a step by step process of getting into a top clinical psychology PhD program.

Before we get to the step by step process I want to give you some general notes. First, if clinical psychology is going to be the career for you, make sure that you're only attending an APA accredited program from the American Psychological Association. Secondly, keep in mind what is considered a top program in clinical psychology in your specific subfield is going to differ from all other subfields. Thirdly, the quality and the reputations of doctoral programs change over time. Just because a program may have been phenomenal let's say ten years ago does not mean it is now. If you are thinking about getting a doctorate degree in psychology these programs take between 5 to 7 years. That is a long time so do your homework.

ABOUT DR. SINGH

Jay Phoenix Singh, PhD, PhD is a Fulbright Scholar, faculty at both UPenn as well as Cambridge, and the internationally award-winning Founder of the Global Institute of Forensic Research (successful 2017 exit as CEO).

Author of over 75 peer-reviewed articles and books, he completed his graduate doctoral studies in psychiatry at the University of Oxford and clinical psychology at Universitat Konstanz.
