BIYB: Introducing the Brentwood Imperial Youth Band

Formerly the "Royal British Legion Youth Band Brentwood", we are based at Warley, Brentwood in Essex UK and first established as a bugle band in 1990. The Band has over 100 members, with some 70 of those in uniform, ranging in age from 9 to 25 and gives both marching and concert performances.

Our main aim is to give young people the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and to perform in public. We take both beginners and competent musicians, develop them musically with aural skills as well as training them to march so that they can perform as a military band. We have a number of instruments available for loan to our members in line with our "Music for All" policy. The band is entirely self-supporting with instructors giving their time freely. Membership is just £1 per week.

The band has performed at local, national and international events including The Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at The Royal Albert Hall; Disneyland; The Rose Parade in Pasadena California; The Zurich Tattoo; The Deutschland Tattoo; St Quentin Tattoo; Metropolitan Police Passing Out Parade. TV appearances include BBC Top Gear and Dave's Marching Band Identification.
