Cold Steel Viking Hand Axe (Big Tomahawk )
Start to finish I test out the Viking Hand Axe in a practical setting. Can this fighter pull domestic duties as well ? I show the axe in a realistic way performing the simple task of gathering wood for a small camp fire, nothing epic , no zombies, no soda jugs, no pigs. Just me, the axe a camera and curiosity .
All in all it did pretty well. I could improve my grind a little as I did have a bit of " bounce out " but the wood is pretty wet this time of year so that is to be expected. The extra length of the 30 inch handle does help generate a serious amount of force for the 19.2 ounce head so I did play it safe with a robust convex grind. I did feel that this thing is pushing the upper limits for fine one handed work at times it is much heavier and very awkward. However it is manageable.
So what it boils down to : what do YOU want out of an axe. To be honest I bought this knowing it was ( for me ) going to be more of a wall hanger than a daily packer. Not because it can't do the job, or because it is junk, its simply that I have tools that do the job better. With that said I would feel perfectly fine having this along on most any outing.

On another note:
I have had a hard time in the past trying to convey what I am trying to video/show and it has led to many hours of me doing countless takes trying to say things just the right way. What ends up happening is I am never really happy with the way some ( most ) of my past videos have turned out, as I always think I could have explained things better, or I get stuck on a word and repeat it millions of times ( um, you know, anyways ) etc . This all leads me to frustration and what I like to call " video block" I really enjoy making these videos and I think I may have worked around/through this issue. This video is focused more on just the tool doing the work and little input from me. I keep it short and hope that what I am trying to do and show come through. I also throw in a little more of my personality...... Yes I am a bit of a smart-ass. I have a real hard time trying to put these videos together and stay so stoic. Sooooo if anyone is still reading this I hope this new format will work and I can still share some of the fun I had taking this new axe out !! Thanks for watching and to those of you that have supported and encouraged me I really appreciate it !! I like to return what I can to the Youtube community as I have certainly watched my fair share HA HA...
