Carla Gutierrez, ACE needed to sift through tons of archival footage for the 2018 film "Chavela," the biopic on Mexico's famous musician, Chavela Vargas. In this video, Carla explains how she selected clips that represented Chavela's own perspective on events in Mexico, and Chavela's romance with the equally renowned Freida Kahlo.

About Carla Gutierrez, ACE: Carla is the editor of the Oscar-nominated film "La Corona" and the Emmy-nominated documentaries "Reportero," "Kingdom of Shadows" and "Farewell Ferris Wheel." Her latest film the Oscar-nominated "RBG," about the life of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and was theatrically released by Magnolia Pictures and Participant Media. "RBG" has become the highest grossing film for Magnolia.
"Chavela" is an American documentary film, directed by Catherine Gund and Daresha Kyi and released in 2017. The film is a portrait of Mexican singer and actress Chavela Vargas.
