Urban Sacramento History 1959: West End
This film spotlights Sacramento history during a controversial period of 20th century American history: Redevelopment. In the Fall of 1959, city officials and state leaders were deciding how to redevelop a large portion of Sacramento's central city known as the West End-- an area some considered to be among the largest slums in California, but others viewed it as a lively neighborhood with a diverse mix of businesses and residents. Most of the footage is from a KCRA program produced & reported by Stan Atkinson. This piece written/narrated by Chris Lango. Edited by SteveDavisProduction.com.
