Local Landscape, Resources, and Best Practices in Opioid Use Treatment

Opioid misuse rates and accessible treatment can vary depending on location. Community strategies and boots on the ground efforts to assist those with opioid use disorder or other polysubstance use include a lot of different tactics, however, some methods are more effective than others. This presentation will highlight the continuing need for education on addiction to reduce stigma, advocacy for more available services, and best practices for programs to consider implementing. Community resources will be reviewed, with an emphasis on the UT Health Houston Heroes Program, as well as other available support in the greater Houston area and throughout the state.
