Scuba diver named as Sydney shark victim

The victim of Sydney's first fatal shark attack in almost 60 years, has been identified as a 35-year-old scuba diver.

The man, Simon Nellist, was a scuba instructor and a keen swimmer who was training for a long distance ocean event.

Mr Nellist was near a rock shelf at Little Bay when he was attacked by what is believed to be a great white shark.

Smart drum lines have been deployed to find the shark involved as the 13 beaches which were closed in the region after the attack begin to reopen.
