Bryan Senti official bio:

LA-based composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Bryan Senti, released his post-classical debut album ‘Manu’ on June 29th via French independent label, Naïve Records. A virtuoso violinist, Senti has worked with artists including Dustin O’Halloran, Peter Gregson and Niklas Paschburg and has scored multiple films and TV shows, including most recently, the BAFTA award-winning series ‘Save Me’ (Sky TV/Peacock).

Having received critical acclaim for his experimental pop project Ex Mykah and the 2018 album ’16,17’, Senti once again works with themes close to the heart, deftly transforming our understanding of the relationship between neo-classical music and the folk and indigenous music of Latin America – Senti is of Cuban and Colombian decent. “Manu, for me, is a deeply personal record that threads the needle between the western classical music that I was schooled in and the music of my parent’s homelands, Colombia and Cuba, as well as greater Latin America. At the outset of my journey to connect these two worlds was a re-examining of performance practice on my primary instrument, the violin. So much of what is saliently characteristic of folk music is encapsulated in the way it’s played,” he says.

To celebrate the official album announcement, Bryan is pleased to share the video for new single and album title track ‘Manu’, released 29th April. “Since my journey to write and record ‘Manu’ began at the beginning of the pandemic, the final recording is in fact the sum of many individual instrumental recordings taking place over the course of a year which help creates the record’s unique and surreal vibe. That said, I wanted to show in this video (and the upcoming ‘Mantra ‘video), that these pieces are string chamber pieces at their essence and that they are playable. I’ve known Clarice Jensen and many members of ACME (American Contemporary Music Ensemble) for over a decade and it felt like a nice homecoming to be able to work with them on this. I was also very fortunate to collaborate with the director Jared M Royal who understood how the record blended the traditional with the modern and was able to transpose this idea to a cold winter day in upstate New York.”

Senti began studying violin at the age of three and went on to study composition at Yale and Carnegie Mellon in the US. He was the lead composer on the 2021 BAFTA winning series ‘Save Me’ (Sky TV/Peacock) and featured on Dustin O’Halloran’s Deutsche Grammaphon debut ‘Silfur’ as well as Peter Gregson’s latest DG release, ‘Patina’. Most recently, he finished scoring the upcoming BBC 3 limited series ‘Mood’, a TV adaptation of the critically acclaimed Royal Court play by Nicôle Lecky. He has also collaborated with Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt (Miike Snow) on the critically acclaimed production ‘Carbon Life’, performed by the royal ballet, and has toured and recorded for the Canadian singer-songwriter, Feist.
