The B-17 That Returned With 600 Holes — And No One Killed #ww2history #history #worldwar2 #ww2 #fact

When the bomber landed, ground crews couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
The B-17 Flying Fortress looked like it had been torn apart. During a brutal mission over Europe in #WW2, the aircraft had flown through intense anti-aircraft fire and fighter attacks.
By the time it returned to base, the bomber had over 600 holes in its fuselage, wings, and tail.
Yet somehow… it was still flying.
The B-17 had been designed with incredible durability during #WorldWar2. Heavy armor, multiple engines, and strong internal structures allowed it to survive damage that would destroy many other aircraft.
Even more unbelievable — every crew member survived.
The bomber limped back across enemy territory, holding together long enough to reach friendly airfields.
Ground crews later counted the damage and realized just how close the aircraft had come to disaster.
Sometimes survival in war isn’t about avoiding danger…
It’s about enduring it.
