They Laughed At The "Kaiser's Coffins" — Until The Liberty Ships Built 2,700 Ships #libertyship #ww2

They laughed at the idea.
During #WW2, critics called them “Kaiser’s Coffins” — the Liberty ships. Slow. Ugly. Fragile. Unimpressive.
But reality told a different story.
These cargo ships became the backbone of the Allied war effort. Mass-produced in shipyards across the United States, the Liberty ships carried troops, weapons, and supplies across the oceans. By the end of the war, over 2,700 ships had been built — faster and cheaper than anyone thought possible.
What seemed like a weak, disposable vessel turned out to be unstoppable in numbers and crucial to victory. The “coffins” kept supply lines open, supported invasions, and made sure armies could fight far from home.
Sometimes, the most unassuming machines leave the biggest impact.
