Binocularity and using Bates method with 'Brock string'

This is part of a (PAL format) DVD, 'Bates method: an introduction' available by post for £10 via Paypal from julia.galvin@btconnect.com

When you see with both eyes, your brain has to combine two different images. It has to constantly shift its attention from point to point in order to make sense of what you are seeing.

This exercise uses the 'Brock string' with your memory and imagination to help your brain to build up a stronger image of what is being seen. It can be helpful especially if your one eye doesn't work well with the other, for example if you have a squint or a 'lazy eye'.

You gently shade one eye and practice remembering and imagining. First with one eye, then the other. The string with beads on it helps you to become clear which eye is seeing which image.
