The Beatitudes - Ukrainian Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom (Roman Hurko composition)

The beatitudes are often taken at the third antiphon during the Divine Liturgy of the Byzantine Rite. As you will quickly notice, the text and lyrics, as shown below in Ukrainian and English, do not encompass the entire Beatitudes as is found in Matthew. Though the full text is in fact found in the liturgical books of the Liturgikon, but this version is the shortened version used in the musical setting composed by Roman Hurko. У Царстві Твоїм пом’яни нас, Господи, коли прийдеш у Царство Твоє.
Блаженні убогі духом, бо їхнє є Царство Небесне.
Блаженні плачучи, бо вони утішаться.
Блаженні лагідні, бо вони успадкують землю.
Блаженні голодні й спраглі правди, бо вони наситяться.
Блаженні милостиві, бо вони помилувані будуть.
Блаженні чисті серцем, бо вони Бога побачать.
Блаженні миротворці, бо вони синами Божими назвуться.
Радуйтеся і веселіться, бо нагорода ваша велика на небесах.

In Thy Kingdom, remember us, O Lord.
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that cry, because they are comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are hungry and thirsty for the truth, for they will be filled.
Blessed are merciful, for they will be merciful.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God.
Rejoice and be glad, for your great reward is in heaven.
