The 30 second curse while metal detecting is real and it happens right at the start of a dig. Find one cool thing right away and then nothing ! I went to one of my local cellar holes here in NH that is out in the woods to see what I could find with my Fisher F19. I walked about 10 feet and swung over a good signal and dug up what looks like a fancy pin from the 1800s. After that I walked around all the rock walls from the 1700s and couldn't find anything else. There is lots of history out here and just being out in these woulds makes for a great day.
