Description: Mentoring is a key educational process in the fire & emergency services. The impact of using mentoring to build key organizational values and expectations, as well as providing both informal and formal education is significant. Integrating mentoring as a component of an organization’s formal education and training program will improve employee performance in the classroom as well as in the station and during emergency response. An integrated program will provide a conduit from the classroom to the street. Get real-time feedback before a student falls behind in the educational process. It will also provide a smoother transition to the streets. This integration process will provide a 360 view of the employee’s performance in the classroom, as well as in the street. It will also provide the employee with support out of the classroom towards an improved learning experience. This process provides a conduit from the classroom to the real world towards developing a productive team member.
