Photography in the Rain - Why I love it

As you saw from my last video, my photography has been driven by the need for a therapeutic environment, but hand-in-hand with that is capturing the experiences in nature that I crave. There's nothing I enjoy more than the atmosphere of woodland and there's something quite special about the sound of rain on the leafy canopy, the shift in tone & colour, the glossy surfaces, the bouncing light and the oodles of atmosphere that heavy rain provides.

It's not without it's challenges - taking photos in the rain can be awkward. I carry plenty of microfibre cloths in my bag to help soak of moisture when my camera isn't in use. A good umbrella is a must....

Once you're set with an umbrella and good quality waterproof clothing then now is the perfect time to get out in the rain to photograph the fantastic autumn colours and the seasonal transitions. Enjoyable and rewarding :)
