New 2024 MG3 - Next Generation Hybrid Premium Hatchback

MG Motors unveiled an all-new hybrid version of their MG3 model at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show. This new fuel-efficient hatchback aims to win over European buyers with its stylish design, premium interior, advanced safety tech, and powerful yet eco-friendly hybrid drivetrain.

Dimensions are at 4,113mm length, 1,502 height and 1,797mm width with a 2,570mm long wheelbase and 1,285 kg kerb weight.

the front end of the MG3 gets a distinct wide front grille along with a pair of sharp LED headlights. If anything the front fascia looks to have also been inspired by the MG GT.

Towards the side, the sporty hatchback gets smooth curves and distinct lines which are then accompanied by diamond-cut alloy wheels. Last but not least are the aggressive wraparound LED taillights which appear to resemble the ones on the older Mazda2 hatchback. Despite some quaint similarities with Mazda, the all-new MG3 can stand out with its hot hatch-like looks.

It’ll be offered in a range of seven colours, at least in Europe: York White, St Moritz Blue, Flaming Red, Morning Yellow, Pearl Black, Blade Silver, and Hampstead Grey.

Step inside the MG3 and the electrified hatchback welcomes occupants into a stylish cabin. There’s a pair of displays on the dashboard which consist of a 7-inch digital instrument panel and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system complete with navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. But whereas most brands nowadays are switching towards a fully digital setup, the MG3 still comes with physical buttons and toggle switches.
Speaking of the powertrain of the MG3- we get a Hybrid Plus powertrain and that combines the output of the 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with the electric motor. The engine gets a 102hp power while the electric motor offers 108hp. The combined power is 195hp and this makes it more powerful than its rivals. The MG3 can make it from 0-100kmph in a matter of 8 seconds.

The gearbox of the car is 3-speed automatic gearbox and the manual option will be offered later. For better efficiency, the car gets 5 different driving modes – EV, Series, Drive and Charge, Standard, and Parallel.

Pricing for the new MG 3 is yet to be confirmed, however it’s likely to be competitively priced. The current car starts from just over £14,000, so you can expect the new car to fetch less than £20,000.
