Explosives Used In Controlled Demolition Of Baltimore Bridge Debris

Crews have carried out a controlled demolition of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore.

The remains of the collapsed bridge had been blocking the river, which is one of the busiest sea routes in the United States.

The demolition marks a major step forward in freeing the Dali container ship, which has been stuck in the wreckage.

21 crew members are still on board, maintaining the ship, but all were safe during the demolition.

The mission had previously been set back due to bad weather.

It’s been 49 days since the bridge was tragically hit by the container ship, causing it to collapse.

The collision killed six construction workers, and saw 4,000 tonnes of debris fall into the river below.

The body of the last victim of the incident was recovered last week.

Officials predict that rebuilding the bridge will cost nearly $2 billion.
