Reserve Bank inflation forecasts ‘wrong for ten years’: Former Labor senator

Former Labor senator Stephen Conroy says in the last ten years the Reserve Bank has not achieved their inflation forecasts “80 per cent of the time”.

“In the last ten years they have a target between two and three per cent … do you know how many times they have achieved it? Four times … that’s it, just that, they have not got their forecasts right 80 per cent of the time,” said.

“The Reserve Bank have got it wrong, I was brutal on Phillip Lowe and I will be brutal on Michelle, just wrong.”
