Towards Inclusive Social Contracts: Promoting Migrant Rights and Diversity—WSWD 2023

Migrants and refugees are often characterized by overlapping axes of disadvantage, some of which are created or reinforced by migration policies. The role of social work is to promote respect of diverse backgrounds and identities and to engage in eliminating all forms of discrimination and oppression, addressing both the individual consequences as well as structural drivers of exclusion and inequality. The roundtable will discuss good practices and innovative approaches in social work, social policy and civil society engagement promoting diversity and addressing intersecting inequalities. Panelists will share their insights and experiences in different contexts in the global North and South, including perspectives from social work, international organizations and lived experiences.
