How to AUTOMATICALLY Create SRT Subtitle File from PLAIN TEXT or Transcript in Subtitle Edit
First, go to video and select open video file to generate a waveform.
Now go to file, import, and select plain text.
In the opened window, first, click on open text file and select the text file you want to create a subtitle from.
Now you can see that subtitle edit, created the subtitle lines but without any timecodes.
Here you have some other options like encoding and splitting which you should use based on your needs.
You can set max number of lines, I use 2 lines here, also you can set the maximum number of characters in each line.
You have some other options like split at black lines and remove empty lines and split lines at some unique characters which you can use depending on your needs.
But the important part is here, if you want to generate timecodes, just click on generate time codes and the timecodes will automatically generate.
Make sure to set duration to auto so each line gets a duration related to length of that line.
You also have the option to change the gap between subtitles as well.
Once you are happy with the generation, click on ok button.
Now the subtitles are generated from the plain text, but depending on the text you provided, you may get different results and it's best to adjust some times in the waveform.
At last, press ctrl + s and save the subtitle.
