As an entrepreneur trying to build a business, there is really no shortcut to success. Three common mistakes that I see people make all the time is not conducting market research, focusing too much on digital advertising, and relying on the purchase of traffic to boost your growth.

And guess what? I made all three of these mistakes when I was starting out.

When I was trying to build my business so that I could replace my income, I was looking for the fastest way to do it. There’s nothing wrong with trying to be as efficient as possible but when you try to cut out necessary parts of the development process, you end up hurting yourself.

The reason why I say that there’s no shortcut to success is because the things you do when starting out are not the same as later on.

Conducting market research is crucial. You need to find out where your ideal client hangs out, what they’re looking for, and what to say to your prospective clients. If you skip this step, you lose a lot of valuable information that can help you to get your first clients.

Another common mistake (which I also made) is focusing too much on digital advertising. Without a solid base of clients, your online presence won’t mean anything because you won’t have any trust or proof of your ability to deliver.

The third mistake is assuming that buying traffic is going to get you the results that you want. It’s true that buying traffic can contribute to growth but it’s not everything.

It’s important to learn that there’s really no shortcut to success. By taking the right steps and conducting market research, you can build your business the right way and ultimately save yourself time and energy.
