Modi Govt’s Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill DEFEATED in Lok Sabha Women’s Reservation Explained

In this video, I had explain the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026 — introduced by the Modi government in a special Parliament session on April 16, 2026.
This bill had 3 main objectives:
👉 Expand Lok Sabha seats from 543 to 850
👉 Conduct delimitation based on the 2011 census
👉 Fast-track 33% women’s reservation in Parliament by 2029
But on April 17, the bill was PUT TO VOTE — and it FAILED.
✅ 298 voted IN FAVOUR
❌ 230 voted AGAINST
🔴 352 votes were needed (two-thirds majority)
This is the FIRST TIME a Constitution Amendment Bill has been defeated under the Modi government.
As a result, two other linked bills — the Delimitation Bill and the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill — were also withdrawn.
I break down everything in simple language so YOU understand what just happened in Indian Parliament.
