🔴 What Happened Today?
On April 25, 2026 — Raghav Chadha and 6 other AAP Rajya Sabha MPs switched to BJP. All 7 MPs have claimed protection under the Tenth Schedule of the Indian Constitution — which states that if two-thirds of a party’s members merge together into another party, they cannot be disqualified. AAP had 10 Rajya Sabha MPs. 7 switched — which is exactly above the two-thirds mark.

⚖️ What is the Tenth Schedule?
The Tenth Schedule — also known as the Anti-Defection Law — was added to the Indian Constitution in 1985. It was designed to stop political defections. However it has one exception — if two-thirds or more members of a party merge together into another party, they are fully protected from disqualification. These 7 MPs used exactly this exception today.

🤔 Legal vs Moral — Where is the Line?
The law says this is allowed.
But democracy demands more than just following the law.
A strong democracy needs a strong opposition. When opposition MPs move to the ruling party — who questions the government? Who holds them accountable? Who speaks for the people who voted for them?
Power is temporary. Moral responsibility lasts forever.
These MPs had every right to disagree with AAP. But was joining the ruling party the right answer — or just the convenient one?
