AKUD ‘Ivo Lola Ribar’ from Belgrade
As the biggest ensemble of its kind, with over 1,000 members, Academic Cultural and Artistic Company Ivo Lola Ribar has been carefully fostering Serbian national artistic tradition and customs in folklore, orchestral music (folk, string and chamber), chorus music and theatre for seven decades now.
This year, Ivo Lola Ribar is going to hold its traditional annual gala concert at the Central Hall of the Sava Centre under the title ‘Lola -69 Years with You’. As always, the performers will demonstrate their superior artistic skills and provide unforgettable moments by dancing, singing, acting, playing music and emanating love. Once more, Ivo Lola Ribar is going to validate the value of their artistic work and meet the expectations of all past and future company members.

Ivo Ribar (Zagabria, 23 aprile 1916 – Glamocko Polje in Bosnia & Herzegovina, 27 novembre 1943) è stato un politico jugoslavo. che si guadagnò lo status di eroe nazionale grazie al suo contributo alla lotta al fascismo. Egli era il figlio maggiore di Ivan Ribar e fratello maggiore di un altro eroe partigiano: Jurica Ribar. Le sue spoglie sono sepolte nel Parco Kalemegdan a Belgrado (Serbia), insieme ad altri eroi della resistenza contro il nazifascismo.
Ivan "Ivo Lola" Ribar was a Yugoslav communist politician and military leader of Croatian descent. In the 1930s, he became one of the closest collaborators of Josip Broz Tito, leader of the Yugoslav Communist Party. In 1936, Ribar became secretary of the Central Committee of SKOJ (Young Communist League of Yugoslavia). During the World War II in Yugoslavia, Ribar was among the main leaders of the Yugoslav Partisans and was a member of the Partisans' Supreme Command. During the war, he founded and run several leftist youth magazines. In 1942, Ribar was among the founders of the Unified League of Anti-Fascist Youth of Yugoslavia (USAOJ). He was killed by German granade in 1943 near Glamoč while boarding an airplane for Cairo, where he was to became the first representative of Communist Yugoslavia to the Middle East Command.
In 1944, Ribar was awarded the title of People's Hero of Yugoslavia. Lola was the older son of Ivan Ribar, first President of Yugoslavia and older brother of another People's Hero, Jurica Ribar.
