Canada Online News Act: Google and Ottawa reach annual $100 million agreement
Google has reached an agreement with Ottawa over Canada’s Online News Act, which is set to take effect in December.
Heritage Minister Pascale St-Onge announced the agreement on Wednesday, stating that Google will pay $100 million annually to compensate news organizations, with the amount indexed to inflation.
However, the distribution of funds among organizations has yet to be negotiated.
