Helping Workers and Labourers During Covid-19 Lockdown | Corona | Heading Home | Lockdown

We have been watching the news that millions of workers and labourers are leaving their places of work and trying to reach their native villages. Their stories are filled with hardship and tragedy. Although the government has organized special 'Shramik' trains for them, a lot of them are stranded at various places. Most of them had to leave their homes as they do not have any income and landlords won't allow them to stay without paying rent.

Worst off are those families with little children. These families do not have a roof over their heads, no food and a very basic supply of water if they are lucky. My friend Sanket and I were shaken by such heart-wrenching scenes and decide to do our bit. So we contacted an NGO that prepares food for 75,000 people daily during this time. They even came and distributed food to these labourers for a day. But eventually, their distribution network is also stretched thin, so we picked up food from their kitchen and distributed it to 200+ workers today.

We will try to feed as many as possible and share updates with you. We have a small request that all of you who are capable of helping such workers nearby, please do that. They have built our cities, homes and means of comfort. It is our duty to support them in any way we can. They told us some really sad incidents and unfortunately, we were unable to help with those but at least we can provide food and water to them.
