Our visit to the National Trust Lamb House in Rye, East Sussex

A look at Lamb House and its gardens in the historic town of Rye in East Sussex.

We take a look at this Georgian home, built in 1723, for James Lamb, a wine and wood merchant, that once provided a bed for the night for a stranded King George I and later became the home of literary figures such as Henry James and E.F Benson.

Our tour starts in the Telephone Room, home to Rye's first telephone, before moving to the Oak Parlour. From there, we move to the Green Parlour, where Henry James and E.F. Benson penned some of their works.

The journey continues into the King's Room, named after the stay by King George I. Our tour of the inside of the house concludes with a visit to the White Parlour, where we can discover 300 years of Lamb House.

We then step outside to discover the different areas of Henry James's English Country Garden.
