西孟加拉爆發失業潮，人民陷入恐慌。一對夫婦為了生活輪班工作。早晨她出門時，他正要入眠；她入睡後，他準備上工。但她仍然悉心為他準備膳食、洗衣打掃，他也從清晨的菜市場帶回新鮮的魚貨。生活的壓力阻隔了這對愛侶，分別處在各自的時空，唯有在她的一天之始、他的一日之末才能短暫相見。一舉奪下威尼斯影展威尼斯日最佳新導演獎的動人佳作。

A woman leaves home on her way to work. Her husband has just arrived home and gets ready to go to bed. The day unfolds in crosscut shots: she works, he sleeps. Half way through, they switch roles. The importance of their work becomes clear from minor topical asides: in today’s Calcutta, the crisis is causing mass unemployment. Only at the end of the day does the couple come together.
