Delhi to Maldives via Kochi Flight | Speed Boat Ride to Maafushi Island | Visa for Indian | Vlog #1

This video is first from my Maldives Series which is based on my trip from Delhi to Maldives(Male) that I completed from 24th September to 28th September, 2019 with my wife and 5 month old son. It was a special trip for my wife and my kid as it was their first ever international trip.

As per the current scenario we don’t have direct Delhi to Maldives flights so we opted to go to Maldives from Delhi via Kochi which had Layover of around 6 hours at Kochi but was reduced to around 5 hours as our New Delhi to Kochi flight was delayed by an hour.
Distance from Domestic and International Terminal at Kochi is around 200-250 metres. So, you can walk simply walk or take battery operated vehicle(if you have heavy luggage). As we had the same PNR on our Boarding Passes till Male so we got Baggage that was checked in at Delhi Aiport directly at Male.

I have SBI Signature Credit Card and also my wife has an Add on Card. So, we got access to Kochi's Earth Lounge (only Rs.2 was charged from the Credit Card). You can reach this Lounge at Kochi International Terminal once you complete your immigration. It is open 24X7 and you can enjoy the food, sweets and alcohol here for free (you can confirm about the limit of Alcohol though). Another point to note here is that the Earth Lounge at Domestic Terminal of Kochi is open only till 11 pm and you need to pay for any Alcoholic drinks there.

We planned this complete trip by our own and we did not take any Tour Packages.

Here are some of the details and costs incurred:

Visa Requirements : Maldives offers Free Visa on Arrival to Indian Passport Holders. You just need to fill up an Arrival Card once you reach Male Airport and you may also be asked for Hotel Bookings, Return Flights and Cash of around $100 per day.

Currency : It is advisable to carry US Dollars along with you as USD is accepted throughout Maldives.

Delhi to Male (Maldives) flight price (Round Trip) : Rs.40,000 (For 2 Adults and 1 Infant) [Prices of flights may change from time to time. We booked almost 1 month in advance and got this price.]
Distance from Delhi to Maldives is covered in around 4 hours 40 minutes(Flight Time) but that layover of 5-6 hours at Kochi International Airport can get a bit boring.

Velana International Airport (Male) to Maafushi Island : $40 (For 2 Adults: Infants can travel for Free) [You can also travel by Ferry which costs just $2 per person. Ferry takes almost 2 hours to reach Maafushi from Male Airport whereas by speed boat you can reach within 30 minutes]

We booked our Hotel at Kaani Beach Hotel(@ Rs.5000 per night incl. breakfast and dinner) at Maafushi Island but as there was some maintenance work going on in the hotel, so we got upgraded to a better hotel from Kaani Group named as Kaani Grand Sea View. We booked our rooms which had breakfast and dinner included. So, on Day 1 we only had to spend $27 for lunch for 4 people(which we had at Hot Bite restaurant) in which we ordered 1 veg pizza, 1 non veg pizza and French fries.

As we were very tired so on Day 1 due to the long layover at Kochi, we decided to relax a bit at the Bikini Beach and explored a bit of Maafushi Island.
