The Accüsed (Accüsed AD) live at MDF '19 Bethany Home and Mechanized Death (full songs)
The Accüsed (or Accüsed AD, I'm not sure which is more accurate)

Bethany Home then, Mechanized Death Maryland Deathfest 2019 Day 4 at the Soundstage 5/26/19
Both songs in order just like on the album they're from, the classic, More Fun Than An Open Casket Funeral. If you were not one of the cool kids that saw this show live that's ok! You can see it now here forever in all its smartphone glory.
The Accüsed are a legendary and somewhat of an enigma band in my history. I've always loved this band but in the past they largely remained a mystery to me because they never came around and I almost never heard them get any radio play. I got to see them twice back in the day though, and this is way back in the 80s. Their 11 year breakup didn't help but now that they're back I've seen them five times but still, they just don't seem to fit in. And it's a few things, they aren't exactly in a one genre niche. I think even so if they were fortunate enough to say be part of the New York or LA scene, or any burgeoning metal scene and more popular bands put them on shows so they got in front of more people that might have helped. Also, and this goes for any band, if they toured the country three times a year every year that probably would have made a difference but lots of people can't afford to do that.
So who are The Accüsed and what are they about? They're a band from Seattle that originally started in 1981 and they never seem to fit any category or scene. They hard a hardcore background but were thrashy & thrash-metal-y (two different things), they were very heavy, and they had a bit of a punk aesthetic to them too, but they also have this gore-splatter horror theme that feels entrenched in the 70s and 80s (which makes perfect sense for a band that I believe is mostly Generation X) and none of these things are bad, in fact I love all of these things myself, I'm just guessing that for other people ... they didn't know what to make of the band. This band also started around the time when metal and hardcore/punk was crossing over and they wrote great songs that fit in that genre or more, were like the prototype of that genre, proto-crossover if you will, but instead of making them more popular because of that today their songs still have that proto feel to them and they're not where you would put DRI, COC, or Excel for example. They'd fit great on bills with any of those bands, and here at MDF '19 they were on the same bill with DRI, I wouldn't be surprised if they played with all kids of bands of this ilk but they do not sound like those bands, and again, don't get me wrong, I love them! I'm just trying to explain why I think they are not more popular than they are.
I loved what I always thought were their two first full-length releases, The Return of Martha Splatterhead and More Fun Than an Open Casket Funeral. And for you trivia fans, The Return ... was the first release by Earache Records, that's right, MOSH ONE! And talk about misfits, even on Earache The Accüsed don't fit it.
It doesn't matter to me, they are great, thrashy, heavy, sick band, and Blake's evil vocals will either have you running for your life or grinning like an undertaker, it all depends on how you look at it.
