Romantic Raga Puriya | Purbayan | Ishaan

Raga Puriya is an evening time raga which has a sensual and romantic mood. In this performance Purbayan ji has explored this sensuality of the raga to 3 different compositions starting with - Madhya laya Jhaptaal (Medium tempo 10 beat rhythmic cycle) follwed by Drut Ektaal (Fast tempo 12 beat rhythmic cycle) and culminating in Drut Teentaal (Fast tempo 16 beat rhythmic cycle). The performance goes from a playful languid state into a crescendo and is interspresed by brilliant rhythmic sperts by wiz kid of tabla Ishaan Ghosh. Hope you enjoy this one.

The performance has been shot in one go (on the fly) at the Roland Artist Centre whowere kind enough to let Purbayan ji and Ishaan to have this place to shoot this video.
