On September 14, 2024, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, former world champion Caleb “Sweet Hands” Plant, from Ashland City, Tennessee, stepped into the ring against the undefeated Trevor McCumby of Glendale, Arizona. The fight was scheduled for 12 rounds and had the vacant WBA interim super middleweight title on the line.

The action heated up in the early rounds when McCumby surprised Plant by scoring a knockdown in the fourth, sending the former champion to the canvas. Plant got back up quickly, showing composure and veteran experience, and used his jab and movement to steady the fight. As the rounds went on, Plant began to dictate the pace, landing sharp combinations to the head and body while McCumby tried to keep up with pressure and power shots.

By the middle rounds, Plant was in full control, gradually wearing McCumby down. The Arizona native showed heart and toughness, but he couldn’t keep Plant off him.
