A 100 year-old man has been suffering from a painful, infected toe. He is unable to walk due to the amount of pain he is experiencing. The 2nd toenail has grown extremely long and into the skin causing a wound and infection. The man did not tell his family members he was in pain or that he was having problems with his toenail. Due to the severity of the infection and pain, patient needed to have his toe numbed before the trimming of the nail.
