Sound Of Us: Parma senior recalls when being an Army nurse meant powder & lipstick — not pregnancy

Linda Pike of Parma recounts how she lost 30 pounds to join the U.S. Army in 1968, but was dismissed a year later when she got pregnant.

As part of Ideastream Public Media's "Sound of Us” initiative, senior citizens at an activities center in Parma, Ohio are sharing personal stories including surviving World War II in Europe, coming out as transgender later in life and maintaining romantic relationships into their 90s.
