The Battle of Iwo Jima remains the only battle of the Pacific Theatre of War where U.S. casualties outnumbered the Japanese. This is the story.

There is a lot of movement between different Marine regiments in the video so below is the order of battle for the USMC on Iwo Jima and the various regiments documented in the video along with the Marine Division they fought under:

3rd Marine Division

-21st Marine Regiment

4th Marine Division
-23rd Marine Regiment

-25th Marine Regiment

5th Marine Division
-26th Marine Regiment
-27th Marine Regiment
-28th Marine Regiment

Note: Other regiments fought on Iwo Jima but due to time-constraints and as a means to not clutter the maps during the video they're not seen in the animations. These include the various artillery, army, amphibious and seabee regiments and corps of which more information can be found online.
