KIRIBATI: The Japanese sites from 1943 WW2 BATTLE OF TARAWA 😲 (Central Pacific)

SUBSCRIBE ► http://shorturl.at/etK26 - Kiribati, Tarawa Atoll - the WW2 Japanese sites. Let's visit the Japanese WW2 sites and fortifications of the island of Betio in the Gilbert Islands (or, currently known as the Republic of Kiribati or the Tarawa Atoll) where the November 1943 battle was fought between the American and the Japanese forces.
Kiribati, an island republic in the Central Pacific, comprises 33 coral atolls and isles stretching along the equator. With lagoons and white-sand beaches, many of its islands are uninhabited, offering a remote setting for fishing, diving and bird-watching. The crowded capital, South Tarawa, made up of small islets, retains remnants of WWII battles fought on its shores, and is known for folk dancing and handicrafts.
The Battle of Tarawa was a battle in the Pacific Theater of World War II that was fought on 20–23 November 1943. It took place at the Tarawa Atoll in the Gilbert Islands, and was part of Operation Galvanic, the U.S. invasion of the Gilberts.
