Guillaume Deflassieux: "On the album cover of 'The Final Countdown' we see a woman below you… I think it’s Madonna?? Right or wrong???"
Joey Tempest: "You see a couple of extra faces on there, don't you? Well, I have to be honest, I have no idea who they are... perhaps the artist's friends...
We went on speaking terms with that guy for a while and I'll tell you why...
We gave the instructions to the New York office, the Art Department, that we wanted a science-fiction kind of cover with us, the band, leaving Earth in monoliths... silver, shiny monoliths in a space sort of atmosphere... And, yeah, they found the guy and he started working, but it took an awful lot of time... We were waiting and waiting... The tour started... 'The Final Countdown's tour started in Scandinavia without having the cover...
So one day we do get word from the management:'There's a record company guy coming to show us the artwork!'... And I think we were on the tour bus in Norway or something... And there he is! We stopped the bus and the record company guy comes on board, walks towards us... you know, like they do... And he shows us the artwork... Everyone goes quiet... we're stunned!
We just look at each other, but after a while, we sort of say 'Yeah, that's great! That's a great sketch! You got the idea! So when's the real deal? When's the final cover ready?"
He just looks us 'This is the final cover!'... You know? What can you do?
We just started laughing... it is what it is, but it was one of those moments... We were on a roll, third album, worldwide release...
You look up lists on the Internet, like 'worst album covers ever' and it'll be up there... It will be up there... Anyway, it's a bit of fun... It was a great period in our lives, we still love the album... So, yeah, great... Thanks for the question and keep 'em coming!"

_abril_mayo_junio: "What kind of guitars and gear did you use recording the powerful guitar work on the album 'Wings Of Tomorrow'?"
John Norum: "Well, that was a Gibson Les Paul Gold Top from 1957 and 100 Watt Marshall Amp, which I believe was JMP from 1979... It was one of the first Master Volume Marshall Amps that came out... So basically a classic set up, Les Paul into Marshall amp, no distortion pedals, no overdrive pedals or anything like that, just straight in... I did use a wah-wah pedal on one song, but that's about it, so no effects whatsoever... And for the tour, I used this guitar right here, for the 'Wings of Tomorrow' tour, which is 1965 Fender Stratocaster... this is great sounding guitar...you go out and grab a bite and come back and it's still sensed... Fantastic sustain... Obviously, you can't hear it right now because it's not plugged in, but if it was plugged in you can hear it... So thank you Abril for the question and I hope to see you all soon. Ciao!"
