Punch Crumb Fishing on the River Foss Basin York

Finally the rivers dropped to a fishable level but with many out of sorts and pockets of fish hard to find, I head to a canalised section of the River Foss to do a spot of punch crumb fishing.

This section of river just below the Foss basin and Foss barrier respectively and is located right in the heart of York, it is truly urban fishing and a popular winter pike hotspot.

Punch crumb and bread punch fishing in winter is a cheap and often deadly method for attracting winter roach and bream.

I reveal the rig I use for bread punch fishing on rivers with some depth and also how I ensure the bait gets down to the bottom in 10ft of water to prevent the fish from drifting off with the flow or becoming impossible to catch.
